COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican’s Athletic Department honored 52 seniors and passed out nine awards to deserving recipients at its annual Student-Athlete Recognition Night on Monday in Matesich Theater.
Jennifer Holton (Johnstown, Ohio) earned the Senior Female Athlete of the Year award. A four-year letterwinner in women’s soccer, Holton was a three-time Second Team All-GLIAC performer who ranks fourth all-time in goals scored, second in assists and third in points in school history. Off the field, Holton has been a three-time GLIAC All-Academic selection as well.
Tyler White (Cincinnati, Ohio) earned the Senior Male Athlete of the Year award. He was a First Team All-GLIAC pick in football in the fall and earned the GLIAC Commissioner’s Award for excellence on and off the field. He helped the Panther offense rank in the top-15 in the country in several categories and was an Upshaw Award nominee as one of the best linemen in the nation.
Shara Perry (Hilliard, Ohio) earned the Female Pride of the Panther Award, which is given to outstanding representatives of ODU athletics. Perry was an all-conference selection in women’s soccer, earned the GLIAC Commissioner’s Award and was a two-time Capital One Academic All-American. She is also heavily involved in community outreach programs.
Eli Kovach (Willoughby, Ohio) earned the Male Pride of the Panther Award. Kovach was a First Team All-GLIAC honoree in football last fall and set the school-record for tackles for loss (27.5). Off the field, Kovach is involved in SAAC and numerous other organizations and is a member of ODU’s President’s Society.
Lauren Pratt (West Chester, Ohio) earned the Female Newcomer of the Year Award. Pratt was selected as the GLIAC Freshman of the Year in women’s soccer after starting all 19 games and leading the team with eight goals, four of which were game-winners. She was also named Second Team All-GLIAC.
Brent Wahle (Pataskala, Ohio) earned the Male Newcomer of the Year Award for his efforts in both soccer and football. In soccer, Wahle was third on the team in points and scored four goals, including one game-winner. In football, he was named Honorable Mention All-GLIAC after leading the conference in field goal percentage and all kickers with 87 points.
April Zaborsky (Dublin, Ohio) was named the Female Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year for having the highest cumulative GPA amongst fourth or fifth-year participants in ODU Athletics. Zaborsky is an Integrated Language Arts Education major.
Kevin Hartoin (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Ian Smercina (Lebanon, Ohio) were each named the Male Senior Scholar Athletes of the Year. Hartoin is a Finance major and Smercina is completing his MBA work this spring.
