BAY CITY, Mich. – After another torrid week at the plate, Ohio Dominican baseball junior Justin Childers (Pickerington, Ohio) was named the GLIAC Player of the Week.
Childers extended his hitting streak to nine straight games as he had at least one hit in all five games he played last week. Included in that performance were four multi-hit performances, and he also had four multi-RBI efforts as well.
The first baseman had a double in all five games and was prolific at the plate against first place Northwood, going 8-for-15 with four doubles, a homer and six driven in while also drawing a pair of walks. In game two on Friday, Childers went 3-for-5 with a homer, a double and two RBIs.
On the season, Childers is hitting .434 with 11 home runs, 48 RBI, 54 runs scored, 15 doubles and 15 walks. He ranks second in the GLIAC in batting average and OBP (.508) while leading the league with a .786 slugging percentage.
Ohio Dominican is 24-20 on the season (15-12 GLIAC) entering Wednesday's non-conference game at 4 p.m. at Cedarville.
