COLUMBUS, Ohio - After splitting four games with conference foe Hillsdale, Ohio Dominican's baseball team wraps up the home portion of its 2018 schedule with games against Ashland and Walsh this week.

ODU and Ashland will square off in a single game at 3 p.m. on Wednesday before the Panthers take on Walsh at 4 p.m. Friday and a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Saturday.

ODU remains atop the G-MAC standings at 27-10 (14-5 G-MAC) and continued to receive stellar performances at the dish.  Junior catcher Colin Kaucher (Toledo, Ohio) earned his second G-MAC Player of the Week honor for his efforts.  Over the weekend, Kaucher went 7-for-13 with two home runs, a double, five RBIs and two walks. He has also extended his hitting streak to 19 games and has an on-base streak of 32.

Senior Justin Childers (Pickerington, Ohio) leads the team with a .443 average, a .577 OBP and an .811 slugging percentage.  The senior is ranked ninth nationally in average, second in OBP and eighth in slugging. Senior Cody Paterniti (Chardon, Ohio) has been hitting well in conference play with a .379 average.  Sophomore Bernee Sanchez (Grove City, Ohio) has proven himself as of late, hitting .380 in conference play.

Junior Noah Bland (Oberlin, Ohio) has batted .350 in G-MAC action and senior Max Banke (Oakwood, Ohio) had a pair of doubles while driving in three runs over the weekend against Hillsdale.

The Panther bats are still sitting atop all of the major conference batting categories except home runs.  They are the only squad with a team average above .300 (.341), an OBP over .400 (.428) and more than 400 hits (420).

The Panther pitching staff has continued to deal this season, leading the conference in ERA (3.81), opponents' batting average (.252) and strikeouts (305).  Junior Garret Sendelbach (Tiffin, Ohio) threw another gem in game two on Sunday, going all seven innings, and only allowing two hits. Junior Joe Filosa (Fort Wayne, Ind.) did not earn a decision in Sunday's opener but logged a quality start, holding Hillsdale to one run over 6.0 innings and lowering his ERA to 3.59.

Junior Brad Wilson (Alexandria, Ohio) once again pitched well in an extended relief outing, picking up the victory in game one on Sunday. He's now 3-1 with seven saves and a 1.19 ERA and has allowed just seven hits in 22.2 innings with 36 strikeouts.

Senior Dustin Cowart (Hoover, Ala.) has yet to allow an earned run in 17.0 innings and has struck out 23 batters, while freshman Tim Zeller (Mount Vernon, Ohio) sports a 1.35 ERA out of the pen as well.

Defensively, Ohio Dominican ranks second in the nation in double plays per game (1.16). The Panthers turned five during Sunday's doubleheader.

Ashland enters the contest with a 26-12 record while Walsh enters at 20-16 and a 13-8 conference record.
