Football Announces 2012 Schedule
2012 Schedule (Some Times TBA)
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ten conference games, including road contests with last season's GLIAC champion Hillsdale and Grand Valley State, await Ohio Dominican's football team in 2012.
ODU begins the 2012 GLIAC slate with a 7 p.m. contest at Hillsdale on Sept. 8. A frenzied comeback lifted the Panthers to a 43-42 victory over the Chargers last season.
The Panthers then open up their conference home slate with a 1 p.m. contest against Northern Michigan on Sept. 15 at Panther Field in the first matchup between ODU and the Wildcats.
Ohio Dominican hits the road again the following week for a 7 p.m. contest against perennial power Grand Valley State in the first meeting between the teams.
ODU's Homecoming game is slated for Sept. 29 against Walsh. The Cavaliers lead the all-time series with the Panthers 4-2, but ODU has won two of the last three meetings.
The Panthers remain at home on Oct. 6 for a 1 p.m. contest against GLIAC South Division rival Ashland, then hit the road for the next two games against Findlay (Oct. 13) and Notre Dame College (Oct. 20), who is an affiliate member in the GLIAC for football. ODU scored a 20-17 win over the Eagles last year, but suffered a 27-24 setback on the road at Findlay. The matchup between the Panthers and Notre Dame will be the first.
Ohio Dominican closes the season with three more contests against Ohio foes, including a home game with Tiffin (1 p.m., Oct. 27), a road game at Lake Erie (Nov. 3) and the season finale at Panther Field against Malone. The Panthers defeated Tiffin 62-7 last year and also defeated Lake Erie 38-30. ODU owns a 4-1 series lead against Malone, with the last matchup coming in 2008.
The Panthers closed the 2011 season with a 7-4 record overall, including a 6-4 GLIAC mark. ODU finished in a tie for fifth in the conference standings.
