COLUMBUS, Ohio -- After matching up a week ago in Alumni Hall, Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team squares off against Hillsdale again in a GLIAC South Division clash Thursday at Hillsdale's Jesse Phillips Arena.
Hillsdale, then ranked No. 23 in the nation, used a 30-8 run to wipe away ODU's first half lead in last Thursday's meeting. The Chargers grabbed a 39-29 lead at intermission, eventually resulting in a 74-53 victory in Alumni Hall.
Senior forward Jake Mochoskay (Mansfield, Ohio) was the lone Panther in double figures that night as he scored 15 points, one shy of his season-high. He followed that with another solid performance in ODU's 80-61 setback, scoring a team-high 14 points. For the week, he averaged 14.5 points on 12-of-23 shooting and also tallied 5.5 rebounds per contest.
Classmate Aaron Gibbs (Oberlin, Ohio) also averaged in double figures last week at 10.0 points per contest and enters Thursday's game just six points shy of 1,000 for his career. He scored 91 as a freshman at Presbyterian College and has 903 in his three years with the Panthers.
Despite a recent shooting slump, junior guard Morgan Jones (Oberlin, Ohio) remains one of the top all-around players in the conference, as he is one of just five GLIAC players to be in the 20 in the conference in scoring (20th, 12.7 ppg) and top 15 in steals (1st, 2.1 spg) and assists (12th, 3.1 apg).
After knocking off the Panthers on Thursday, Hillsdale dropped a 69-66 decision to Tiffin on Saturday. The Chargers remain in first place by themselves in the GLIAC South Division with a 13-3 mark, two games clear of both Findlay and Wayne State. Tim Dezelski, who had nine points, eight assists and six steals against ODU, tallied 22 points and 12 boards off the bench
