SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – Senior forward Aaron Gibbs (Oberlin, Ohio) scored his 1,000th career point on a layup in the second half, but Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team fell 86-72 to Notre Dame College in non-conference action Wednesday at the Keller Center.

Senior center Zak Kapron (Malvern, Ohio) matched a season-high with 16 points and junior guard Morgan Jones (Oberlin, Ohio) had 11 points. Senior guard Darrien Douglas (Willard, Ohio) was also in double figures with 10 points and senior forward Jake Mochoskay (Mansfield, Ohio) had 10 points and a career-high five steals.
But ODU had no answer for Notre Dame's offense, which shot 59.1 percent for the game (36-of-61). The Falcons also had 14 offensive rebounds and 20 assists for the contest.
Douglas got the Panthers rolling early with a pair of three-pointers as ODU went in front 7-6, but the Falcons – who hit eight of their first nine shots – scored 11 straight to grab a 17-7 lead. ODU scored six straight on jumpers by Douglas and Jones and a putback by Gibbs to cut it to 17-13 with 12:49 to play.
Notre Dame (10-15) answered with a 13-2 run, though, going in front 30-15 with just over seven and a half minutes to play and maintained a double digit advantage for the rest of the half, taking a 45-29 lead into the break. The Falcons hit 19-of-32 shots (59.4 percent) in the half, while ODU went just 10-of-27 (37.0 percent) from the field.
In the second half, ODU drew within 12 at 45-33 as Mochoskay came up with a steal and went coast-to-coast, slamming it home with his right hand. The Panthers, though, would be able to draw no closer than 12 for the duration of the contest.
