Artie Taylor enters his fifth season at the helm of the Ohio Dominican men's basketball program. Taylor took over the Panthers’ program in 2007 and led ODU to its most wins since 2003-04 and highest winning percentage in 14 seasons.

In his first season at Ohio Dominican, Taylor helped develop a young team into a conference contender and led them to a 19-11 overall record. The Panthers returned to the conference tournament and played their way to the AMC Tournament Semifinals before losing to eventual champion Cedarville University.

In his second season, the Panthers had their ups and downs while playing their most challenging schedule in recent history. ODU finished with a 15-15 overall record and 7-6 in AMC play, just missing the conference tournament after being edged out in a tie-breaker. ODU’s demanding schedule featured 11 nationally ranked opponents, and the Panthers knocked off the NAIA Division I No. 6 ranked Georgetown Tigers and also defeated NAIA Division II Mount Vernon.

Taylor guided the Panthers to the A.I.I. Tournament Finals in Denver in the 2009-10 season. ODU knocked off Walla Walla University in the semifinal round, but fell just short of the title with a 65-60 loss to Johnson & Wales University in the championship game. During the campaign, ODU bested Division III power Hope College, upset Division II National Tournament qualifier Central State and bested NAIA Division II No. 21 ranked and National Tournament qualifier Cedarville University.

In his short tenure, 10 players have earned all-conference accolades under Taylor’s guidance, while Brian Busch was named to the NAIA Men’s Basketball Division II All-American Team after the 2008 season.

Prior to becoming the head coach at ODU, Taylor served as an assistant varsity coach and head coach of the junior varsity squad for five seasons at Division III power Wittenberg University. During his tenure at Wittenberg, Taylor helped guide the Tigers to an overall record of 156-44. The highlight of his time with the Tigers came in the 2005-06 season when Wittenberg was the NCAA Division III National Runner-Up. The Tigers earned three No. 1 seeds in the NCAA Division III Tournament during Taylor’s time on the bench.

Before serving as the assistant coach at Wittenberg, Taylor spent one season as an assistant coach at Cardinal Ritter High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, and was a graduate assistant at Defiance College for two seasons, earning his Master’s degree in education in 2007.

Taylor graduated from John Carroll University in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in management while playing for the Blue Streaks men's basketball team. He was a three-year starter and was named the team's most valuable player his senior season when he helped lead JCU to an Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament. He was inducted into the John Carroll Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010.

Taylor resides in Columbus with his wife, Christine, and their son, A.J.
