Third-Lowest Round Of Spring Season Caps Off Great Midwest Championship For Men’s Golf

LIBERTY TWP., Ohio — A third-round score of 308 helped Ohio Dominican's men's golf team finish the season strong, notching the third-lowest team round of competition this spring at the 2018 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship at Four Bridges Country Club.

The Panthers finished in a tie for seventh overall after posting a total score of 940 (319-313-308), with all five ODU competitors shooting below 80 in the final round Tuesday.

Freshman Owen Johnson (Toledo, Ohio) led the way in round three with a career-low round of 75 and scored a 233 (81-77-75) to co-lead the team, finishing in a tie for 29th overall.

Also co-leading the Panthers was senior Mark Creamer (Saratoga, California), who also finished at 233 (76-79-78) for the tournament. Creamer recorded three top 20 finishes in 2018 and led ODU in the final two tournaments of the spring season.

Senior Ryan Thompson (Dunfermline, Scotland) finished strong for Ohio Dominican, shooting the second-lowest round three score for the team at 76. Junior Drew Wayman (Wapakoneta, Ohio) and sophomore Blake Saffell (Somerset, Ohio) each recorded a 79 in round three for the Panthers.

Overall, ODU recorded seven top 10 finishes this year and also finished in the top five of three tournaments as a team.
