FINDLAY, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's men's golf team finished fifth overall shooting 608 at the Ohio Cup Saturday at Red Hawk Run Golf Course in Findlay, Ohio.
The one day 36-hole event saw 86 players from 14 different schools competing.
Northwestern Ohio won the event shooting 586, four shots better than second place Findlay. Lewis Scott of Northwest Ohio won the event with a -1 144 over the two rounds.
Ohio Dominican opened their day with a first round score of 296 which had them sitting in a tie for first before shooting 312 in round two.
The Panthers were led by senior Drew Wayman (Wapakoneta, Ohio) who tied for 6th shooting 147. Wayman was tied for the lead after the first round as he shot even par 72 before shooting 75 in the second round. The senior was second in the field in par-3 scoring shooting -2 on the eight par-3's played today.
Freshman Ben Herman (Germantown, Ohio) posted a 151 which was good enough to tie for 17th. Herman posted rounds of 74 and 77 on the day. Herman played the eight par-3's even par on the day which tied him for 15th in the field in par-3 scoring.
Shooting rounds of 73 and 80 was junior Blake Saffell (Somerset, Ohio) who placed tied for 22nd overall. Saffell was sixth in the field in par-4 scoring shooting just +3 on the day.
Freshman Dalton Crowley (Nashport, Ohio) tied for 42nd as he posted rounds of 77 and 80 on the day. Crowley matched Herman's even par on the par-3's on the day. Fellow freshman Robert Holden (Hertfordshire, England) rounded out the Panther five as he posted 77 and 83 to tie for 52nd overall.
Playing as an individual for the Panthers was freshman Brandon Wehrle (Findlay, Ohio) where he finished tied for 28th posting rounds of 80 and 74 on the afternoon.
The Panther men's golf team turns their attention to the G-MAC Fall Invitational on September 17-18 at Otter Creek Golf Club in Columbus, Indiana.
