COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's men's golf team heads to Columbus, Indiana this weekend to participate in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Fall Invitational.
The Panthers are coming off a fifth-place finish in the team's first-ever participation in the Ohio Cup on Saturday. ODU shot 608 as a unit, and led the 14-team field after the first 18 holes with a 296.
Ohio Dominican will look to continue building momentum after back-to-back top-five finishes at the ODU Kickoff Classic and the Ohio Cup.
Senior Drew Wayman (Wapakoneta, Ohio) had an impressive performance at the Ohio Cup, posting an even par first round (72) and a 75 (+3) in the second round, good for a tie of 6th place in the event.
Freshman Ben Herman (Germantown, Ohio) was just behind his elder teammate, shooting a 74 (+2) first-round score before a 77 (+5) second round showing. He finished tied for 17th.
Junior Blake Saffell (Somerset, Ohio) finished tied for 21st in the end, but shot a solid 73 (+1) score in the first round, before stumbling a bit with a second-round 80 (+8).
Freshman Robert Holden (Hertfordshire, England) will look for a bit of a bounce-back, after totaling a 160 in the Ohio Cup – finishing tied for 47th place – after a 145 in the ODU Kickoff Classic.
Rounding out the squad for the Panthers will be freshman Dalton Crowley (Nashport, Ohio). At the Ohio Cup, Crowley posted a first round 80 before improving six shots to shoot 74 in round two which tied him for 38th.
Ohio Dominican finished tied for 9th of 11 teams in the G-MAC Fall Invitational a season ago.
