COLUMBUS, Ohio — In its fifth-straight win of the season, Ohio Dominican's men's soccer team posted a 3-0 shutout of Trevecca Nazarene on senior day at Panther Stadium Saturday.
ODU (7-8, 6-7 G-MAC) is unbeaten in the month of October and boasts a gaudy 13-2 goal differential over its opponents during the span.
Junior Jonathan Barnes (Winter Haven, Florida) scored his eighth goal of the season in the win, marking the third-straight match Barnes has found the back of the net.
Also finding the goal Saturday was junior Ryan Kasprzak (Hilliard, Ohio), who scored for the sixth time this season and 22nd time for his career. Kasprzak has found the back of the net in three of the last five matches for the Panthers.
Scoring the first goal of his career was sophomore Alix Cassagnol (Silver Spring, Maryland), who capped off a masterful day for Ohio Dominican with a header in his first collegiate score.
ODU struck in the 11th minute on a goal by Barnes from the close, middle portion of the box with assists to sophomore Cameron Christian (Pataskala, Ohio) and sophomore Noah Kiser (Mason, Ohio), giving the Panthers an early 1-0 lead.
After carrying the one goal advantage into the 79th minute, the Panthers extended the lead to 2-0 after a penalty kick by Kasprzak. Less than two minutes later, Cassagnol headed one in after pressing the TNU keeper. Cassagnol notched the first goal of his career and gave ODU a commanding 3-0 lead, which it maintained to the final whistle to earn the shutout.
ODU will look for its sixth-straight victory on Tuesday at Findlay before preparing for Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament play on Saturday, October 28.
