Mathew Earns G-MAC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

INDIANAPOLIS -- Ohio Dominican's senior goalkeeper Alec Mathew (Pataskala, Ohio) earned Great Midwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week as announced on Monday from the G-MAC office.

Mathew was a crucial part of three consecutive shutouts for the men's soccer team. Mathew started two games and played all 180 minutes between the posts in the wins over Malone and Walsh.

In the 2-0 win over Malone on Thursday, Mathew recorded two saves in all 90 minutes between the posts to clinch his first shutout of his career.

He clinched his second shutout of his career in a 3-0 win over Walsh on Saturday. Mathew faced four shots on goal while not allowing a shot past him in the 90 minutes in goal. 

Mathew and the Panthers get ready to host a rematch with Walsh on Thursday, September 13 at 7:30 pm at Panther Stadium.
