COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's men's soccer team dropped a Great Midwest Athletic Conference matchup with Lake Erie 3-2 on Saturday from Panther Stadium.
The physical matchup featured a total of 22 fouls with seven yellow cards and a red.
The Panthers got on the board early in the matchup as freshman Tyler Arnold (Westerville, Ohio) found the back of the net at the start of the fourth minute. Arnold found the back for the second time this year as he received the pass from Jonathan Barnes (Winter Haven, Fla.).
The Storm answered quick as Miguel Espinoza found the back of the net in the sixth minute to knot the game at 1-1.
In the 25th minute, the Storm took the lead 2-1 on goal from Javier Borreguero which sent the game into halftime.
Out of the half, the Storm advanced their lead to 3-1 on a goal from Jonathan Carr in the 50th minute.
Barnes found the back of the net to cut the Panther deficit to 3-2 as Cameron Christian (Pataskala, Ohio) headed a pass to Barnes to finish lower right passed the Storm keeper.
The Panthers best look at knotting the game came from a header by sophomore River Allbaugh (Pickerington, Ohio) off a cross that the Storm goalkeeper dove to make the save.
Senior goalkeeper Alec Mathew (Pataskala, Ohio) faced eight shots on goal while turning away five in all 90 minutes between the posts.
With the loss, ODU drops to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the G-MAC while Lake Erie advances to 4-3 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
The Panthers turn their attention to Thursday, September 20 as they travel to Findlay to play the Oilers with kickoff set for 4 p.m.
