Men's Soccer Travels to #6 Ohio Valley Thursday

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio Dominican's men's soccer team goes on the road to play No. 6 Ohio Valley in a Great Midwest thletic Conference matchup Thursday at Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio. 

The contest with the Fighting Scots is scheduled to kickoff at 1:30 p.m. at McConagha Stadium at Sherman Field.

The Panthers come in to the contest winners of three of their last four matches and hold a 6-5 overall record and a 5-3 G-MAC record which puts them fourth in the conference

On Wednesday of last week, the Panthers defeated Trevecca by a score of 4-1 behind a pair of goals from seniors Ryan Kasprzak (Hilliard, Ohio) and Jonathan Barnes (Winter Haven, Fla.).

On Saturday, the Panthers hosted Cedarville and dropped a 1-0 defensive battle. 

Barnes is leading the Panther offense with six goals and three assists as he is tied for fifth in the conference in points and tied sixth in goals. Freshman Tyler Arnold (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) remains second in the conference with 39 total shots while Kasprzak is tied for sixth with 30 shots attempted.

Senior goalkeeper Alec Mathew (Pataskala, Ohio) has eight starts in 2018 allowing 12 goals with 24 saves and a save percentage of .667.

The Fighting Scots come into the week ranked No. 6 in Division II and No. 1 in the Midwest Region according to the United Soccer Coaches. 

Ohio Valley sits atop the G-MAC with a 10-1 overall record and a 6-1 record in the G-MAC. 

The Scots will be led on offense by Juan Hoyos who is second in the conference with nine goals and Jorge Pradillos who is third with eight goals. Alexandre Horveno leads the confrence in assists with 11.  

Last week, Ohio Valley had conference wins over Kentucky Wesleyan by a score of 6-0 and Trevecca 3-1. 

Leading the defense for OVU is Jorge Bravo who leads the league with seven shutouts and a goal against average of .476.
