OWENSBORO, Ky. – Ohio Dominican's men's soccer team went on the road and shutout Kentucky Wesleyan by a final score of 5-0 Thursday night at Panther Field in Owensboro, Kentucky.
In the battle of the Panthers, ODU held KWC to just eight shots while the ODU had 25.
ODU took a 1-0 lead into the half as Jaxson Szabo (Worthington, Ohio) notched his second goal of the year as a long throw in from Matthew Pardi (Worthington, Ohio) bounced around and Szabo finished lower left past the KWC goalie in the 36th minute.
ODU then notched four second half goals to put the game at ease.
The scoring started early in the second half as River Allbaugh (Pickerington, Ohio) received a pass from Ryan Kasprzak (Hilliard, Ohio) in traffic and finished to the left of the KWC goalkeeper in the 50th minute.
ODU pushed their lead to 3-0 just three minutes later as freshman Tyler Arnold (Westerville, Ohio) stole an errant pass and found fellow freshman Zach Ziolo (Dublin, Ohio) who finished for his third goal of the year.
Szabo notched his second goal of the match-up as Allbaugh crossed to the far post where a sliding Szabo finished to put ODU up 4-0.
In his first start of the year, sophomore Ian Crook (Cincinnati, Ohio) notched his fourth shutout of his career as he had two saves in all 90 minutes between the posts for ODU.
With the win, ODU advances to 7-7-1 overall and 6-5-1 in the conference while KWC drops to 1-13-1 overall and 0-8 in the G-MAC.
ODU remains on the road as they travel to Nashville, Tennessee to take on Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday, October 20 with kickoff set for 5 p.m.
