Division I Morehead State Overwhelms Panthers

Early season line-up changes and much needed match experience showed on Friday afternoon, as the Panthers were defeated 7-0 by Morehead State University. Playing against the Division I opponent for the second consecutive season, ODU hoped their depth would shine, but too much firepower from the hosts proved the difference in the non-conference match-up.

Playing a one point decision in doubles, the Panthers came out looking for an early point and momentum builder. Claude Badowski (Sr./Oundle, England) and Tyler Johnston (So./Wilmington, OH) delivered half at the #1 spot, 8-5, but Morehead State closed out the other two courts for the doubles point.

The Panthers never found traction in singles play as the host Eagles took 6-of-6 courts in straight sets.

"I thought the guys played with great effort and belief, but we showed we have work to do," said head coach Ryan Beigle. "We certainly havent played our best tennis, but we will get better and keep improving heading into GLIAC play."

The early season challenges continue for the Black and Gold as they will play host to Southern Indiana on Saturday, February 25th at the New Albany Tennis Center in Columbus, Ohio.
