Panthers Close Season at Midwest Regional
BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – Ohio Dominican's cross country teams closed out the 2011 season Saturday running at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships, hosted by Ferris State.
The men's team finished with a 22nd place finish, while the women placed 23rd at the meet.
Freshman Todd Hewitt (Eaton, Ohio) was the top finisher on the men's side, finishing 98th with a time of 34:49.4. He was followed by freshman Mike Barber (New Franklin, Ohio) in 126th, while senior Brian Litt (Mansfield, Ohio) and freshmen Matt Richardson (Columbus, Ohio) and Ethan Miller (Monclova, Ohio) rounded out the top five for the Panthers.
The women were paced by freshman Tara Walker (Lewis Center, Ohio), who placed 105th, and Meghan Willeke (Lexington, Ohio), who capped her ODU cross country career with a 112th place finish. Completing the ODU scorers at the meet were Mallory Kitts (Springfield, Ohio), senior Allison Green (Cincinnati, Ohio) and sophomore Michelle McKean (Pataskala, Ohio).
The cross country runners will now prepare for ODU's first full track and field schedule. The Panthers' first indoor meet is slated for Dec. 10 at the Purple and White Invitational at Capital University.
