Softball Returns Home For First GLIAC Contests Against Grand Valley State, Ferris State

COLUMBUS, Ohio — In its first contests of the 2017 season at Panther Field, Ohio Dominican's softball team will host Grand Valley State in a doubleheader on Friday and face Ferris State in two contests on Saturday.

The Panthers will host the Lakers on Friday in a doubleheader with games beginning at 2 p.m., and on Saturday, ODU faces Ferris State in a doubleheader at Panther Field beginning at 11 a.m.

ODU (13-13, 0-0 GLIAC) is 8-5 in its last 13 games entering this weekend. The squad ranks second in the GLIAC in hits with 179 and ranks third in the conference in stolen bases with 30, with junior Taylor Kline (Bellville, Ohio) leading the GLIAC in stolen bases with 16. Kline leads the squad and ranks seventh in the GLIAC in batting average, hitting .412 this season.

Leading ODU in RBIs is senior Kelly Wallace (Oshkosh, Wisconsin), who ranks fourth in the conference in RBIs at 19. Wallace has recorded seven multi-hit games in her last 13 outings and is 5-for-10 in the last three contests for Ohio Dominican.

Sophomore pitcher Abby Lamping (Cleves, Ohio) leads the Panthers in wins with six to rank fourth in the GLIAC and has pitched a team-high 77.2 innings through 26 games, which ranks third in the conference.

Following games against Grand Valley State and Ferris State, ODU will travel to Wheeling Jesuit on Tuesday for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. and will host Saginaw Valley and Northwood next weekend at Panther Field, hosting Friends of Jaclyn Day on Sunday.
