INDIANAPOLIS — Ohio Dominican softball sophomore Taylor Farmer (Mt. Blanchard, Ohio) pitched five scoreless innings in a 6-5 (9 inn.) win over Indianapolis on Sunday to earn Great Midwest Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week honors.
It marks the second-straight week that ODU softball has been honored by the Great Midwest, with senior shortstop Taylor Kline (Bellville, Ohio) earning player of the week honors for week one.
Farmer struck out four and walked just one batter while surrendering just four hits and zero runs to help ODU earn a dramatic comeback victory over Indianapolis. Farmer moved into the circle in the bottom of the fifth inning with the Panthers trailing 5-0 and retired the side while notching two strikeouts.
Ohio Dominican scored five in the top of the sixth to tie the contest at 5-5, then Farmer pitched three more scoreless innings to maintain the tie going into the top of the ninth. With two outs and Kline on second base, Farmer notched a single to score Kline and earn a 6-5 (9 inn.) win for the Panthers.
In 10.2 innings pitched this season, Farmer has allowed just 12 hits and two earned runs to boast a 1.31 ERA, striking out nine batters while walking just three thus far.
ODU has won two-straight and will be competing in the Midwest Region Crossover this weekend in Evansville, Indiana.
