WESTFIELD, Ind. — Ohio Dominican's softball team swept Quincy on Sunday at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana, earning a 8-0 (6 inn.) win in game one and a 4-2 victory in the second contest of the day.
The Panthers (5-5) have won four of their last six and are now 4-2 against Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) opponents this season.
In game one, ODU used a five-run third inning to surge ahead for the 8-0 (6 inn.) win. Junior pitcher Abby Lamping (Cleves, Ohio) earned her first victory of the year and 25th of her career. Freshman Kristen Bales (Pickerington, Ohio) led ODU at the plate with three RBIs.
The Panthers capitalized on a three-run fifth inning in game two, rallying for the 4-2 victory over the Hawks. Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth, sophomore Cameron Barber (Powell, Ohio) notched a two RBI single to score seniors Liz Sutter (Mansfield, Ohio) and Taylor Kline (Bellville, Ohio) and give ODU a 3-2 lead. Later in the inning, Bales singled to score freshman Aubrey Rolon (Hilliard, Ohio) and increase the Panther advantage to 4-2. Barber held Quincy off the board in the final two innings and went the distance in the circle, surrendering just two runs on four hits in her second win of the year.
Ohio Dominican will wrap up its three-day slate of games tomorrow at Grand Park with contests against No. 9 Southern Indiana and Indianapolis.
