Chris Shirer begins his third season as assistant coach with the Ohio Dominican softball team.

Shirer brings over 20 years of softball coaching experience to the Panthers staff. He was the assistant varsity coach at Marysville High School from 1990 until 1998, where he took over as head coach from 1999 until 2010. During his 12 years as the helm, he accumulated a record of 270-78, including five Ohio Capital Conference championships, five district championships, and three Division I regional runner-up finishes. Shirer also earned five OCC and district Coach of the Year honors as well as the Columbus Dispatch Coach of the Year in 2004. In 2008, Shirer was elected to the Central District Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Along with his softball duties, Shirer also coached football at the high school varsity level for 28 years.

Shirer is a 1973 graduate of Zanesville High School.  From there he went on to graduate with a Bachelors degree in Education from Muskingum College in 1977, where he played football for three seasons and won an OAC championship in 1975. He then went on to earn a Masters degree in Sport Management from Ashland University in 1991.

Shirer currently resides in Marysville, Ohio with his wife and enjoys playing golf in his free time.
