COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's track and field teams will be traveling to Marietta College for the Marietta First Glimpse on Saturday, Dec. 9 to compete in their first meet of the 2017-18 season.
Events will begin at 11 a.m. at the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center with the men's and women's high jump. The running events will start at 12:30 p.m. with the men's and women's mile.
The Panthers are looking to continue their success on the track and in the field after the men set a total of 11 school records and the women notched four school marks last season, earning a team total of 15 school records.
On the men's side, the Panthers are returning numerous top performers from last year. Senior Justin Carroll (Berea, Ohio) set the school record last year in the men's 300m with a time of 37.47 at the Tiffin Alumni Open. Carroll was also a part of the DMR team along with junior Wes Pipher (Attica, Ohio), junior Bobby Bogantz (Sunbury, Ohio) and sophomore Draven Bass (Circleville, Ohio) that recorded its highest DMR finish in school history with a fourth place finish at the GLIAC Indoor Championships. Pipher will be looking to continue his success from his sophomore season into his junior season after he set the school record in the men's indoor 3,000 meter run with a time of 8:57.83 at the GLIAC Indoor Championships.
On the women's side, the Panthers are returning sophomore sprinters Imani Stepney (Columbus, Ohio), Shaunqueza Stevens (Dublin, Ohio) and Bryanna Barber (Reynoldsburg, Ohio). Stepney ran the fastest indoor times of the season in the women's 60m dash and 200m dash, finishing in 7.91 and 26.48. Stevens and Barber both set personal bests in the 60m dash, with Stevens running a time of 8.08 and Barber notching an 8.14.
Ohio Dominican's second meet of the indoor season will be at the Otterbein Invitational in Westerville on Saturday, January 13. ODU is set to compete in 10 meets during the indoor season.
