COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Dominican's track and field team will compete in the Jessica Starks Open at the Capital Center on the campus of Capital University this Saturday, January 27 at 10 a.m.
This will be the fourth competition of the indoor season for Ohio Dominican. Leading the Panthers last week was senior Justin Carroll (Berea, Ohio), who notched a sixth place finish out of 69 competitors in the men's 800 with a time of 1:57.30. Through three meets, Carroll has notched five, top 10 finishes in four different events.
The Panthers also saw strong performances on the men's side from freshman Nick Middlesworth (Marion, Ohio), who notched a top 10 finish for the Panthers in the men's 60 meter dash, placing 10th out of 44 competitors with a sprint of 7.07. Senior Avery Sumpter (Lima, Ohio) also finished strong in the event, placing 17th after crossing the finish line in 7.14. Senior Chad Ellis (Brook Park, Ohio) finished with a time of 16:34.90 to place 17th out of 32 competitors in the men's 5,000. Junior Clayton Seymour (Ashville, Ohio) led the ODU men's throwers in the shot put and weight throw. Seymour placed 17th out of 58 in the shot put with a throw of 13.67 meters and recorded a distance of 12.03 meters in the weight throw.
The women's side saw strong performances in field events, with freshman Pasha Rivers (Dublin, Ohio) placing 23rd out of 63 in the shot put, throwing 11.40 meters, and also recording a weight throw of 11.38 meters to place 35th out of 57. Sophomore Megan Tamasovich (Canal Winchester, Ohio) followed up a school-record breaking performance in the women's high jump with a strong mark of 1.56 meters to place 11th out of 23 competitors.
