ALLENDALE, Mich. — Ohio Dominican senior Justin Carroll (Berea, Ohio) broke the men's indoor 800 meter run school record, sophomore Megan Tamasovich (Canal Winchester, Ohio) tied her own school record in the women's high jump and the men's 4x400 meter relay team of freshman Amir Metts (Cincinnati, Ohio), Carroll, sophomore Draven Bass (Circleville, Ohio) and senior Avery Sumpter (Lima, Ohio) set an indoor school record on day one of the GVSU Big Meet on Friday.
Carroll held the previous 800 indoor record for the men at 1:55.32, but used a run of 1:53.37 to establish a new high mark for the Panthers and finish first in his section.
Tamasovich finished with a mark of 1.64 meters to place in a tie for second in the high jump and tie her personal best and indoor school record. Tamasovich has topped her previous record jumps in the event on four occasions so far this indoor season.
The previous men's 4x400 relay indoor record was 3:18.29, but the team of Metts, Carroll, Bass and Sumpter recorded the fastest time in the event for ODU in three years at 3:17.40.
Metts recorded the fastest time of the season for the Panthers in the men's 200, finishing second in his section with a time of 22.47.
Senior Chad Ellis (Brook Park, Ohio) set a personal best in the men's 5,000 with a run of 15:56.18.
Ohio Dominican will continue competition at Grand Valley State tomorrow. Field events start at 9 a.m., with running events beginning at 10 a.m.
