COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Dominican's track and field team will compete in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Indoor Championships at the Margot V. Bierman Center at Hillsdale College on Friday, February 23 and Saturday, February 24.
Competition will begin on Friday with the women's pentathlon at 10 a.m. and the Men's heptathlon at 10:15 a.m., with the men's distance medley relay wrapping up competition at 7:10 p.m. On Saturday, the men's mile will start off the day at 12:30 p.m., and the awards presentation will mark the conclusion of the championships at 4 p.m.
Overall, 26 Panthers will be competing throughout the weekend. Ohio Dominican track and field student-athletes have set eight indoor school records this season. Senior Justin Carroll (Berea, Ohio) has led the men's side, hitting a NCAA Division II provisional mark in the 800 meter run in his last competition at the Buckeye Tune-Up, as well as notching nine top-five finishes. He currently has the fastest 800 time in the conference.
Sophomore Megan Tamasovich (Canal Winchester, Ohio) has led the way for the women's side, establishing the women's indoor school record in the high jump with a mark of 1.64 meters. Tamasovich has achieved eight top-five finishes throughout the season and currently holds the fourth-highest jump in the conference.
The Panthers have also seen great performances from Senior Avery Sumpter (Lima, Ohio), who has the fourth-fastest 60 meter dash in the conference with a time of 7.00. Sophomore Draven Bass (Circleville, Ohio) boasts the fifth-best long jump with a distance of 6.76m. Bass also has posted the sixth-best 200 meter dash, running a 22.30.
The men's 4x400 meter relay team of Carroll, Bass, Amir Metts (Cincinnati, Ohio), and Sumpter hold the fastest time in the conference at 3:17.40, establishing a new, G-MAC indoor record in the men's 4x400 at the GVSU Big Meet on Friday, February 9.
