NEW CONCORD, Ohio — Ohio Dominican track & field opened the 2018 outdoor season at Muskingum University on Friday and Saturday, with the Panthers earning top 10 team finishes for both the men and the women at the Amy Adams Memorial Invitational.
The ODU men finished in sixth place out of 14 competing teams with 50 points, while the women also notched a top 10 finish with 31.33 points.
The Panthers saw several high finishes, with Amir Metts (Cincinnati, Ohio) leading the way with a first-place finish in the men's 200 with a time of 22.66. Metts also took fourth place in the men's 400 with a run of 51.01.
Three Panthers finished in the top five of the men's 200 in addition to Metts. Draven Bass (Circleville, Ohio) took fourth with a time of 22.95, while Justin Carroll (Berea, Ohio) finished fifth in 22.96. Carroll also recorded a top five finish in the men's 400, crossing the finish line in 51.01. Finishing fourth in the men's 800 was Bobby Bogantz (Sunbury, Ohio), who recorded a time of 2:00.57.
Earning a personal best mark of 12.86 and a second-place finish in the women's 100 was Bryanna Barber (Reynoldsburg, Ohio). Barber was also part of the second-place women's 4x400 meter relay team along with Megan Tamasovich (Canal Winchester, Ohio), Imani Stepney (Columbus, Ohio) and Monica Tumblin (Pataskala, Ohio) that finished in 4:28.61. Additionally, she earned third-place honors in the women's 200 with a mark of 26.74.
Tamasovich continued to impress in the women's high jump, finishing second out of 14 with a final mark of 1.57 meters, building from her strong performances in the indoor season.
In the field for the men, Isaiah Smith (Logan, Ohio) took fifth out of 16 in the long jump with a mark of 6.27 meters. Clayton Seymour (Ashville, Ohio) led the way in the shot put with a throw of 15.13 meters.
ODU will head to Cedarville next weekend for the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open on Saturday, March 31.
