WILMINGTON, Ohio — Six first-place finishes were realized and two outdoor school records fell for Ohio Dominican track & field at the Jenna Strong Invitational on Saturday at Wilmington College.
Emma Barth (Dayton, Ohio) and Justin Carroll (Berea, Ohio) each set outdoor school records, with Barth breaking her own outdoor mark in the women's discus and Carroll notching his third outdoor school record. Barth finished second in the discus with a top distance of 38.02 meters, while Carroll crossed the finish line in 4:04.56 to take first place in the men's 1500. Carroll was also part of the first place men's 4x400 meter relay team along with Draven Bass (Circleville, Ohio), Omar Jalloh (Pataskala, Ohio) and Amir Metts (Cincinnati, Ohio) that finished in first place with a time of 3:23.04.
Metts was outstanding on the day, also taking top honors in the men's 100 and 200 meter dashes. He finished with the top 100 time of the season for the Panthers at 10.99, while crossing the finish line in 22.42 to earn top honors in the 200.
Taking first place in the men's 800 was Chad Ellis (Brook Park, Ohio), who finished with a time of 2:02.67.
Also earning first place in a relay event for the Panthers was the men's 4x100 group of Bass, Jalloh, Cam Brandon (Cleveland, Ohio), Metts and Avery Sumpter (Lima, Ohio), who earned top honors with a time of 43.69.
Finishing second in the men's 5,000 was Alejandro Serna (Duncanville, Texas), who crossed the finish line in 16:27.24.
The women's 4x100 meter relay team of Bryanna Barber (Reynoldsburg, Ohio), Dominique Washington (Gahanna, Ohio), Shaunqueza Stevens (Dublin, Ohio) and Imani Stepney (Columbus, Ohio) picked up a second place finish with a time of 50.78, the fastest time of the season for ODU. Barber and Stevens also finished strong in the 100 and 200, with Barber using a sprint of 13.00 to take second place and Stevens finishing third in 13.09 in the 100. In the 200, Barber finished fourth out of 27 competitors with a time of 26.79, while Stevens was sixth at 27.37.
Megan Tamasovich (Canal Winchester, Ohio) picked up a top five finish in the women's 400, notching a personal best time of 1:04.55. She also picked up a second place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.60 meters.
Clayton Seymour (Ashville, Ohio) earned top five finishes in the men's shot put and discus, finishing fourth in both events.
ODU's next competition will be the Walsh Invitational on April 13 and 14.
