COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's women's basketball team couldn't find a rhythm offensively or keep Hillsdale off the glass as the Panthers fell 76-51 at home Saturday in G-MAC play.
However, due to other results around the conference, the Panthers secured a bid into the G-MAC Tournament for the second straight year, and it's the fourth straight year ODU has qualified for postseason play overall.
Quarterfinal action of the tournament is at campus sites this year on Tuesday, March 5.
ODU shot 19-of-59 (32.2 percent) for the game, and Hillsdale had a 56-34 edge on the glass, including 19-5 in offensive rebounds.
Junior Alexa Fisher (Powell, Ohio) scored 12 points and had three steals to lead the Panthers. Sophomore Olivia Fox (Newark, Ohio) scored nine points and sophomore Angela Troyer (Sugarcreek, Ohio) grabbed eight rebounds.
Freshman Alli Kern (Waterford, Ohio) also pulled down six rebounds for the Panthers, who could not overcome a 15-1 run by Hillsdale to close the first quarter.
Playing in her final home game, senior Alexis Overly (Chillicothe, Ohio) finished with six points and four rebounds. Senior Cayla Bensman (Anna, Ohio) joined Overly in being recognized on the floor prior to the game for their efforts in contributing to ODU's 70 victories over the past four seasons.
Ohio Dominican closes the regular season at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ohio Valley.
