COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's women's golf team tee off this weekend at the Michael Corbett Invitational to officially begin their 2018 season.
The Panthers travel to Lake Shore Country Club in Erie, Pennsylvania for the Sunday/Monday tournament, along with 19 other schools. In the same event last year, ODU finished 11th out of 23 total teams.
A team which finished third at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships last year, ODU brings back nearly its entire roster from last season, losing just one player while adding two freshmen to the squad.
This year's campaign will be led by a solid core of experienced upperclassmen. Junior Abby Swensen (Milford, Ohio) averaged a score of 81.9 per round (+10) in 10 events last season, while fellow third-years Bailey Krueger (Canal Winchester, Ohio) and Emma Romine (Marysville, Ohio) helped the cause with nearly identical average scores per round of 83.5 and 83.4 (+11). One of just two seniors for ODU, Kaylin Dill (Sedalia, Ohio) also returns to the team after posting an 86.1 (+14) average.
ODU will also welcome freshmen Alex Gomez (Morrow, Ohio), a first team All-Conference performer in high school, and Natalie Parker (Ostrander, Ohio), a first-team All-District member and two-year State tournament qualifier herself.
