PHILLIPI, W.Va. — Two second half goals allowed Ohio Dominican's Women's Soccer team to fight back for a 2-1 win over the Alderson Broaddus Battlers on Thursday evening in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference match.
ODU (7-3, 5-1 G-MAC) notched a season-high 28 shots and held an 11-3 shots on goal advantage over AB.
Freshman Samantha Buck (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) scored her first career goal in the win on an assist from senior Alli Pavlik (Cortland, Ohio), who also tallied five shots on goal. Junior Susan D'Isidoro (Twinsburg, Ohio) notched her first goal of the season en route to victory.
Alderson Broaddus led 1-0 at halftime, but Ohio Dominican fought back in the second half. After a header attempt by Pavlik hit the crossbar in the 55th minute, D'Isidoro swept in to clean up the shot attempt and put the ball to the back of the net, tying the match at 1-1.
Buck scored the game winning goal for the Panthers in the 70th minute after a pass from Pavlik found the freshman, who put the ball past a charging Alderson Broaddus goalkeeper to give Ohio Dominican a 2-1 lead.
ODU's defense held firm for the remainder of the match, earning its seventh win of the year by a final mark of 2-1.
Ohio Dominican continues road, Great Midwest competition in the state of West Virginia on Saturday at 12 p.m. when it takes on Davis & Elkins for the first time.
