PAINESVILLE, Ohio — For the 13th time in the 18-year history of the program, Ohio Dominican women's soccer has reached the 10-win mark in a single season, defeating Lake Erie by a final score of 3-0 on Saturday in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference match.
The Panthers (10-4-1, 8-2-1 G-MAC) have recorded five shutout wins this season and with 25 conference points, maintain second place in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference standings as the regular season wanes.
Ohio Dominican held a commanding 22-5 shot advantage over the Storm that included an 11-0 margin in shots on goal.
Sophomore Becca Gordon (Johnstown, Ohio) scored her third goal of the season in the win. Freshman Samantha Buck (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) scored her fourth goal in the last six matches and recorded an assist for the second-straight match and fourth time this season. Senior Lauren Bates (Hilliard, Ohio) scored her eighth goal of the season and found the back of the net for the second-straight match. Recording her first career assist was sophomore Lindsey Sullivan (Marysville, Ohio), while sophomore Madeline Reimbold (Fort Wayne, Indiana) dished out the second assist of her career in the win.
The Panthers struck first in the 10th minute, when Gordon found the back of the net on an assist from Buck, giving ODU a 1-0 lead.
With a one-goal lead in the second half, Buck would score in the 64th minute on an assist from Reimbold to push the Panther advantage to 2-0.
Bates put the finishing touches on the night in the 81st minute, scoring her eighth goal on an assist from Sullivan to give Ohio Dominican a commanding, 3-0 lead. The Panther defense preserved the shutout and held Lake Erie to zero shots on goal, earning the 3-0 decision.
Ohio Dominican welcomes Kentucky Wesleyan and Trevecca Nazarene next week for Great Midwest Athletic Conference matches at Panther Stadium.
