COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Dominican women's soccer senior midfielder Lauren Bates (Hilliard, Ohio) continued her accumulation of awards after being named to the 2017 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (CCA) women's soccer Midwest region first team on Wednesday.
Bates was named first team All-Great Midwest Athletic Conference and most recently earned College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District first team honors, earning consideration for a CoSIDA Academic All-America award.
With 15 goals in 2017, Bates finished with the third-highest goal total for a season in the history of Ohio Dominican women's soccer on a shot percentage of .221. Bates also notched three assists to finish with 33 points for the season. She led a Panther offense in scoring that finished with its highest goal output of the program's NCAA Division II era with 52 goals.
Bates ends her student-athletic career at ODU with 15 goals and three assists with ODUWS and scored 1,089 points in her four years with Ohio Dominican women's basketball from 2013-2017.
Ohio Dominican women's soccer finished with a program-high 16 wins in 2017 and earned its first NCAA Division II women's soccer championship victory in the process, topping Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) tournament champion McKendree, 2-1 (2OT) in the first round.
