COLUMBUS, Ohio – After a superlative senior season, Ohio Dominican women's soccer midfielder Lauren Bates (Hilliard, Ohio) was named a D2CCA First Team All-American on Friday, the first player in program history to earn that status.
Bates scored 15 goals, the third-most in ODU single-season history, to go along with three assists and 33 total points, which is tied for fourth-most in a season. She tallied three game-winning goals and had four multi-goal games as well.
Earlier this week, she was named Second Team All-Midwest Region by the United Soccer Coaches and was a D2CCA First Team All-Midwest Region selection as well. Bates was also a First Team All-Great Midwest honoree and picked up CoSIDA Academic All-District recognition as well.
Bates' efforts helped the Panthers to a program-best 16-5-2 record and the team's first win in the NCAA Tournament, defeating McKendree 2-1.
She is the program's first All-American since former standouts Jen Holton and Becky Williams picked up NAIA Honorable Mention All-American honors in 2009.
