INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Ohio Dominican women's soccer freshman forward Mari Silvestri (Solon, Ohio) was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference offensive player of the week as announced by the G-MAC office on Monday.
On the week, Silvestri posted two goals and an assits as she led the Panther offense to a 2-0 record with a 3-2 win over Ursuline in overtime on Thursday and a 4-0 win over Lake Erie on Saturday.
The freshman forward got the scoring for the Panthers started in their 3-2 overtime win against Ursuline on Thursday as she put away a rebound in the third minute to put the Panthers up 1-0 early. The goal marked Silvestri's second of her career.
In the match-up with Lake Erie on Saturday, Silvestri extended the Panther lead to 2-0 as she beat her defender on the left side of the box and converted on the shot near side past the Storm goalkeeper. She also played a role in advancing the lead to 3-0 as she had the assist on Taylor Rankin's (Dearborn, Mich.) goal in the 61st minute.
Silvestri and the Panthers go on the road to Findlay on Thursday with kickoff set for 1 p.m. before returning home to take on Tiffin on Saturday at 12 p.m.
