Vienna, W.Va. – Ohio Dominican's women's soccer team succumbed to a pair of goals in the first half from Ohio Valley in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference contest Monday at OVU.
With the loss, ODU drops to 6-4-1 overall and 5-3-1 in the conference while OVU goes to 9-1-3 overall and 8-0-1 in the G-MAC.
The Scots jumped on the Panthers early as they were able to gain a 1-0 lead in just the third minute on a goal from Fernanda Araya. ODU's best look was a shot by sophomore Samantha Buck (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) that was saved in the eighth minute.
OVU would add another goal just before the half as, in the 30th minute, Araya was able to find the back of the net to go up 2-0 through the first 45 minutes.
Both defenses stood tall in the second half with each team not allowing the other to score. Hannah Knobloch (Hilliard, Ohio) and Becca Gordon (Johnstown, Ohio) were able to get shots on goal in the 51st minute and 90th minute, respectively but neither could find the back of the net.
OVU outshot the Panthers 8-4 in the contest while having a 6-3 advantage on corner kicks.
The Panthers turn their attention to Alderson Broaddus as they host the Battlers on Senior Night at Panther Stadium on Thursday, October 11 with kickoff set for 5 p.m.
