Gordon Scores Twice as Women's Soccer Clinches Second Straight Shutout

ELKINS, W. Va. –  Ohio Dominican's defense did not allow a shot until the 71st minute as the Panthers women's soccer team went on the road to shutout Davis & Elkins by a final score of 3-0 Saturday afternoon in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference contest.

Junior Becca Gordon (Johnstown, Ohio) notched a pair of goals along with an assist on senior Lindsey Rentzsch's (Dublin, Ohio) header to lead the Panther offense.

The Panthers got on the board early in the contest as Gordon set up for her corner kick to the back post where Rentzsch notched her second goal of the year to put ODU up 1-0 in the fifth minute.

ODU outshot the Senators 9-0 in the first half with four on goal.

Gordon and the Panthers did not take long after the half to double their lead as the lefty beat the Senator goalkeeper to her left in the 53rd minute.

The junior from Johnstown then advanced the Panther led to 3-0 just four minutes later as she received a pass from senior Anita Ferguson (Columbus, Ohio) and found the back of the net.

Senior goalkeeper Marissa Wierzbicki (Powell, Ohio) clinched her second straight shutout playing all 90 minutes between the posts with three saves.

Ohio Dominican looks to keep momentum as they travel to Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday, October 18 with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. CT.
