CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – A pair of Ohio Dominican pitchers were named to Perfect Game's list of Top 25 prospects in NCAA Division II, with junior Daniel Mooney (Wauconda, Ill.) ranking fifth and redshirt sophomore Austin Bueter (Wauseon, Ohio) ranking 23rd.
Ohio Dominican is one of just two schools to have two prospects appear on the list, and they are the lone two GLIAC representatives in the Top 25.
Mooney, an Honorable Mention All-GLIAC pick in 2013, went 6-6 with a 3.69 ERA last spring. He struck out 62 batters in just 68.1 innings, including 11 punchouts in a win over Wheeling Jesuit. Mooney worked 8.2 innings and allowed an unearned run in a win over Walsh, and he also tossed a seven inning complete game shutout against the Cavaliers in which he allowed just three hits.
Bueter, who did not pitch last season, went 2-2 with a 3.80 ERA in his freshman season of 2012. He registered 37 strikeouts in 42.2 innings. The right-hander picked up a victory over Ashland, allowing just one earned run, while striking out 11 and holding Hillsdale to two earned runs in a complete game effort.
Ohio Dominican begins its season at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22 against Union (Tenn.) at Trevecca Nazarene.
