WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Ohio Dominican's baseball team ended its week in Florida on a high note, defeating Seton Hill 12-5 Saturday to wrap up play at the Russ Matt Central Florida Invitational.
The Panthers went 9-3 in their 12 games in Florida and return to Ohio with a 10-5 record overall.
ODU pounded out 15 hits in Saturday's win, including three apiece by senior Anthony Raschilla (Girard, Ohio) and junior Kyle Suminski (Fraser, Mich.). Raschilla and classmate Drew Ryan (Newark, Ohio) each knocked in three runs apiece as well.
Senior Alex Borgan (Pickerington, Ohio) pitched six strong innings, allowing three earned runs while striking out four. He improved to 1-2 on the spring.
Seton Hill answered with two runs in the third, then tied it after single tallies in the fourth and fifth frames.
But ODU pulled away in the sixth and seventh innings. A throwing error and a sacrifice fly by freshman Tony Evans (Medway, Ohio) made it 6-4 in the sixth, and RBI singles by Raschilla and Horsley extended the lead to 8-4 in the seventh.
Ryan, Tisdale, Rudolph and Horsley each had two hits to also lead the Panther offense.
Ohio Dominican begins GLIAC play with a doubleheader at Lake Erie at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
