COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's baseball team stranded 14 runners on base and dropped a 9-2 decision to Ashland on Sunday in the series finale between the two teams.
ODU, which swept the Saturday doubleheader against Ashland, fell to 12-8 (2-3 GLIAC) with the loss, while the Eagles snapped a five-game losing skid and improved to 11-9 (1-4 GLIAC).
The Panthers scored a run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by senior Bryan Rudolph (Pickerington, Ohio), but Ashland took control of the game with a five-run third inning.
An RBI double by freshman Tony Evans (Medway, Ohio) cut the lead to 5-2 in the fourth, but the Eagles came back with a run in the fifth, a single tally in the seventh and two in the ninth to put it away.
ODU stranded two runners on base in the first, third, fifth and seventh innings and left the bases loaded in the sixth as well.
Ohio Dominican plays at Lake Erie at 3 p.m. on Wednesday for a single nine inning game.
