Baseball Drops Series Finale to Saginaw Valley

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Ohio Dominican's baseball team fell to Saginaw Valley by the score of 4-3 in the series finale on Sunday.

With the setback, the Panthers fell to 22-21 (12-16 GLIAC). The Cardinals improved to 16-22 (13-15).

The Cardinals scored first, after Luke Valutis hit an RBI sacrifice fly to right field, bringing in Chris Perkovich.

The Panthers answered with a run in the top of the fourth when sophomore Jacob Horsley (Thornville, Ohio) singled down the right field line to score junior Kyle Tisdale (Uniontown, Ohio).

Saginaw Valley went up 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth thanks to an RBI single by Michael Craig to score Perkovich.

The Panthers rallied in the top of the seventh to go up 3-2, with junior Phil Jaskot (Upper Arlington, Ohio) came up with an RBI single to score senior Bryan Rudolph (Pickerington, Ohio) and later scored thanks to an error.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Cardinals hit the go ahead run thanks to Luke Valutis sacrifice fly to right field to score Michael Craig, which was unearned.

The Panthers couldn't get the offense going in the ninth, falling by the final score of 4-3.

Senior Sean Blackburn (Wadsworth, Ohio) took the loss for the Panthers, pitching eight innings for ODU, while giving up four runs, two of which were earned.

Ohio Dominican will travel to Walsh on Wednesday, Apr. 30 for a single nine inning game beginning at 3 p.m.
