COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's baseball team kept its GLIAC Tournament hopes alive with a 7-3 win at Walsh Thursday.
The Panthers (24-21, 13-16 GLIAC) rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the first inning, scoring twice in the second and twice in the third to gain the lead.
With two outs and the bases loaded in the second, junior Kyle Tisdale (Uniontown, Ohio) hit a two-run single through the right side to bring home sophomore Dylan West (Westerville, Ohio) and junior Marcus Schluessler (Zanesville, Ohio) to tie the game.
In the third, freshman Kyle Burson (Brunswick, Ohio) hit a two-out, two-run double in the third to give the Panthers the 4-2 advantage.
After Walsh (22-24, 14-14) scored a run in the fourth, the game remained 4-3 until the eighth inning. Schluessler hit an RBI single, then Burson also had a run-scoring basehit up the middle to give the Panthers a 6-3 advantage.
Senior Bryan Rudolph (Pickerington, Ohio) then capped the scoring with an RBI single in the ninth.
Junior Ryan Bidwell (Syracuse, N.Y.) picked up the victory and improved to 3-2 with 3.2 of two-hit, scoreless relief. He walked one and struck out one.
Rudolph went 3-for-5 and scored twice, Burson went 2-for-4 with three RBI and Schluessler also went 2-for-4 with two runs scored to help pace the offensive attack.
Ohio Dominican will play a three-game series at Tiffin this weekend, starting with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
