TIFFIN, Ohio – Senior Alex Borgan (Pickerington, Ohio) held off Tiffin to no runs on seven hits in the regular season finale as Ohio Dominican went on the road to win the series against the Dragons with a 1-0 win on Sunday.
Today's game lifted the Panthers to 27-22 on the season and 15-17 in GLIAC play. Tiffin moved to 17-31 (16-15 GLIAC).
One run in the second inning proved enough for the Panthers as Borgan tossed the complete game shutout in leading ODU to the victory.
Sophomore Ian Huss (Springboro, Ohio) singled through the left side of the infield to start the second inning and advanced to second on a single by senior Bryan Rudolph (Pickerington, Ohio). Huss scored on a sophomore Jacob Horsley (Thornville, Ohio) single to give the Panthers the 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the ninth, Borgan got Kyle Lento to pop up to the first baseman to record the first out. Devon Fisk singled through the right side of the infield to put the tying run on first. Brogan struck out a pinch hitting Trent Stamm and picked off Fisk to end the inning.
Borgan went the distance for the first time this season while fanning a career-high 12 batters in improving to 5-4 on the season. The senior issued just one walk and allowed no extra base hits in the game.
