Baseball Duo Picks Up All-Region Honors

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican senior pitcher Alex Borgan (Pickerington, Ohio) was named to the ABCA Midwest Region Gold Glove Second Team, while senior Jossue Delgado (Barinas, Venezuela) was named to the Daktronics All-Midwest Region Second Team on Thursday.

Defensively, Borgan did not commit an error and finished with a career-best 15 assists this spring. On the mound, he went 5-4 with a 3.78 ERA in 10 starts and 13 total appearances. He pitched 69.0 innings and led GLIAC pitchers during the regular season with 61 strikeouts.

For his career, Borgan finished with an 18-16 record and threw 266.1 innings over 43 starts (58 appearances). He tossed 13 complete games, including two shutouts, and struck out 193 batters.

Delgado closed his season with a .342 batting average, leading the team with 37 runs scored and ranking second in the GLIAC with 26 stolen bases. He tallied 53 hits in 155 at bats, including six doubles, two triples and two homers, and also knocked in 22 runs.

Delgado had hitting streaks of 12 and 15 games during the season, and during his two seasons with ODU, was a career .332 hitter with 38 steals and 61 runs scored.

Ohio Dominican closed its season with a 26-22 overall record.
