Kaucher got the Panthers (9-4) scoring started in the first inning with an RBI single to right field, scoring sophomore Brad Hull (Gahanna, Ohio) who had doubled earlier in the frame. The Panthers bumped their lead to 3-0 in the second inning on a two-out, two-run single by Evans that brought home senior Kyle Burson (Brunswick, Ohio) and sophomore Genesis Hillard (Cincinnati, Ohio).
A sacrifice fly by sophomore Jace Komminsk (Westerville, Ohio) made it 4-0 in the fourth, and another RBI single from Kaucher bumped the cushion to 5-0 in the fifth.
ODU tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning on Kaucher's RBI triple and a Mountie error, and a two-run triple by Bland in the eighth gave the Panthers a 9-0 lead.
