INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA announced today that Ohio Dominican's football game at Findlay on Sept. 22 has been selected as part of the Division II Football Showcase slate of games.
The game will be streamed live on the Division II Facebook and Twitter pages and will kick off at 7:05 p.m. from Findlay's Donnell Stadium. It's one of just 22 Division II football games that will be aired through the NCAA this fall.
This will be the second matchup between the two programs that receives national attention, as the 2013 matchup between ODU and Findlay was carried on the CBS Sports Network, which resulted in a 41-21 win for Ohio Dominican on a Thursday night in Panther Stadium.
The contest will also be a rematch of what turned into last year's G-MAC championship game as the two teams entered the 2017 regular season finale with unblemished conference records. ODU pulled away with a 49-24 victory in that contest at Panther Stadium. The teams were picked to be atop the 2018 conference standings as well, with ODU voted first and Findlay second by the league's head coaches.
"This is a tremendous showcase of two quality programs," said Kelly Cummings, ODU's third-year head coach. "We're honored to receive this type of exposure and are looking forward to the opportunity to compete at a high level on a national stage."
"The Great Midwest is very excited to have two institutions highlighted in the NCAA Division II football showcase for the second year in a row," said G-MAC Commissioner Tom Daeger. "This year's game will feature two nationally-ranked programs and a replay of our de facto championship contest from last season. The elevated level of competition from both sides will be on display in this highly-anticipated matchup."
Ohio Dominican, ranked No. 23 in the AFCA Preseason Coaches' Poll, opens its season at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30 in Panther Stadium against California (Pa.).
