Men's Soccer Opens G-MAC Play This Week

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- After three out of conference matchups to start the year, Ohio Dominican's men's soccer team opens Great Midwest Conference action this week against Malone at Panther Stadium and Walsh on the road in Canton, Ohio.

The matchup with Malone is set for Thursday at 5 p.m. at home while the contest with Walsh is set for 7:30 p.m. at Milazzo Field.

About Ohio Dominican

The Panthers go into Thursday's matchup with Malone coming off a 1-0 win against Ashland on Tuesday. ODU holds a 1-2 record after a 2-1 loss at Urbana, a 3-0 loss to UIndy last week. 

ODU has posted 19 shots on goal through three games with junior Jonathan Barnes (Winter Haven, Fla.) and freshman Zach Ziolo (Dublin, Ohio) the only ones finding the back of the net for the Panthers. 

Senior goalkeeper Robby Frye (Cincinnati, Ohio) has started all three games in goal for ODU has he and the Panther defense are coming off their first shutout of 2018. Frye has seven saves out of 12 shots on goal this season.

About Malone

Malone comes into this matchup with an 0-3 record with losses to Roberts Wesleyan, Daemen and Davis & Elkins. Against Roberts Wesleyan, the Pioneers lost 3-1 while the Daemen and the G-MAC opener against Davis & Elkins matchups ended with a score of 1-0. 

Sam Condon leads the Pioneer offense as he has the lone goal with four shots so far in 2018. Alexandre Durand has started all three games in goal for the Pioneers as he has racked up 22 saves in those three games.

A year ago at Panther Stadium the Panthers defeated the Pioneers 3-0.

About Walsh

The Cavaliers come into the week with a 2-1 record with wins over Daemen and Roberts Wesleyan by scores of 4-0 and 3-1. However, Walsh dropped their G-MAC opener at Lake Erie by a score of 4-1 on Tuesday. 

Myles Cornwall leads the Cavalier offense as he has 10 points in 2018 with four goals and two assists while Dwight van Dyke has three goals and an assist in the early part of the season.

Brett Ekperuoh has started all three games in goal for the Cavaliers posting nine saves and giving up five goals so far this year.

In the only matchup with Walsh a year ago, the Panthers defeated the Cavaliers 2-0 at Panther Stadium.
