COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio Dominican's men's soccer team drew with Alderson Broaddus Thursday on senior night at Panther Stadium in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference matchup.
With the draw, ODU goes to 6-4-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the conference while AB goes to 5-7-2 overall and 5-5-2 in the G-MAC.
The first half saw the Panther offense outshoot the Battlers 11-5 but AB had a 3-2 advantage on corner kicks. However, neither team could find the back of the net in the first 45 minutes and they went into the half tied 0-0.
ODU recorded three shots on goal in the half while AB had two.
The second half saw the Panthers again outshoot the Battlers, this time 8-4 while having a 6-2 advantage on corner kicks.
The scoring started in the 52nd minute as Gary Daniel found the back of the net to put the Battlers up 1-0. It did not take long for the Panther offense to answer as, in the 59th minute, senior Ryan Kasprzak (Hilliard, Ohio) converted on his fifth goal of the year on an assist from freshman Tyler Arnold (Westerville, Ohio).
In the first overtime, The Panthers outshot the Battlers 3-2 with their best opportunity coming in the 94th minute when Kasprzak took a shot and an AB defender knocked it away.
The second overtime saw each team have one shot and the Panthers have a 2-0 advantage on corner kicks. The best look for the PAnthers came off a corner where junior Matthew Pardi (Worthington, Ohio) had his shot go wide left.
Senior goalkeeper Alec Mathew (Pataskala, Ohio) recorded seven saves on the night including one in the second overtime where he denied a one-on-one opportunity for the Battlers. Mathew played all 110 minutes between the posts where his record goes to 5-4-1.
ODU turns their attention to Davis & Elkins as they travel to Elkins, West Virginia on Saturday, October 13 with kickoff set for 12:30 p.m.
