COLUMBUS, Ohio – Earlier this morning, head coach Marcella Vanlandingham and the Ohio Dominican softball team announced the dates of its annual upcoming winter clinics.
A total of five sessions conducted by the ODU coaching staff and current Panthers will be held throughout February and March covering all aspects of the game. Listed below are the session dates and times:
Saturday, February 11 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Sunday, February 12 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Saturday, March 3 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Sunday, March 4 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
(Includes pitching & catching)
Saturday, March 3 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Hitting instruction will take place at the ODU Hitting Facility next to the softball field. Participants will focus on the proper fastpitch hitting technique, including bunting and slapping, through various drills and video analysis.
The defensive session will be in Alumni Hall next to the Bishop James A. Griffin Student Center. Position players will focus on the proper defensive techniques of the infield and outfield positions, while covering throwing, positional skill work, correct footwork and communication. Pitchers will engage in numerous drills to implement proper mechanics, increase accuracy and speed, and specific pitch development. Catchers will focus on throwing, framing, blocking and other fundamentals.
