HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Ohio Dominican softball team concluded the Ringor Charger Chillout Tournament with a pair of losses to West Georgia and Young Harris (Ga). The Panthers suffered a 7-2 setback to West Georgia and a 7-0 loss to Young Harris.
In game one against West Georgia, the Wolves jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Mackenzie Ault led the inning off with a triple down the right field line. Nicole Yancey followed with a two RBI homerun to left field.
Ohio Dominican matched the Wolves runs in the bottom of the inning thanks to a one out single by junior Alex Cribari (Lyndhurst, Ohio). Sophomore Lizzy Weber (Canton, Ohio) reached on an infield error to put runners on first and second. Sophomore Kelsey Albanese (Westerville, Ohio) hit a two-out single to left field, which allowed Cribari to score. Junior Brier Sanner (Hartville, Ohio) followed with a single to left, which scored Weber.
West Georgia regained the lead 3-2 in the top of the fourth inning on a single to left and took a 4-2 lead in the fifth. The Wolves scored three more runs in the sixth inning, and kept the Panthers quiet, sealing the victory.
Freshman Brooke Myers (Orlando, Fla.) took the loss for ODU, pitching 4.2 innings while allowing six hits.
Offensively, the Panthers were led by Cribari, Albanese, and Sanner, who all had two hits.
In the weekend finale game, the Panthers suffered a 7-0 setback to Young Harris.
The Mountain Lions scored three runs in the bottom of the third and fourth innings and tacked on one more run in the bottom of the sixth.
Cribari led the Panthers offensively, going 2-for-4 from the plate. Freshman Casey Murdoch (Morrow, Ohio) suffered the loss for the Panthers.
Ohio Dominican will return to action the weekend of February 22 for a two-day tournament at University of Southern Indiana.
