EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Ohio Dominican softball player Taylor Thomas (Bellville, Ohio) was named to the Daktronics Midwest Region First Team and is a candidate for All-American recognition.
Thomas, a junior, was named the GLIAC Player of the Year on May 2. She led the team in batting average (.386), home runs (10) and on-base percentage (.465) in helping the Panthers win their first GLIAC regular season title and advance to the NCAA Midwest Regional for the first time as well.
Thomas authored a 16-game hitting streak earlier this season and also had an eight-game hitting streak. She had 18 multi-hit performances and had nine multi-RBI games as well.
In GLIAC play, Thomas had a .417 batting average and a .485 on-base percentage. She led the conference with 17 doubles, was second in hits (66), third in home runs and fourth in RBI (38). She was also second with her 24 walks and was in the top-10 in batting and on-base percentage.
For her career, Thomas has a .334 batting average with 18 home runs and 78 RBI.
The Panthers concluded their season with a 30-29 record, including a 21-5 mark in GLIAC play.
